Privacy Policy

Your words
stay yours.

Privy is built privacy first. Here is exactly what it does, and what it never does, with your data.

The short version. Privy has no account and no login. It collects no personal information. Your notes are stored on your device, and optional sync uses your own private iCloud. We run no servers that hold your content, and we have no way to read it.

01Data we collect

None. Privy has no sign-up, no account, and no analytics. We do not collect your name, email, location, contacts, or any usage data. There are no third-party SDKs, no advertising, and no trackers in the app.

02Where your notes live

Everything you write in Privy is stored locally on your device. If you turn on sync, your notes are synced through Apple iCloud using your own Apple ID. That data lives in your private iCloud and is governed by Apple's terms. We do not operate a server that stores your notes, and we have no ability to access, read, or retrieve them.

03Face ID and biometrics

Privy can lock the app, a single note, or a vault with Face ID, Touch ID, or a passcode. Biometric authentication is handled entirely by iOS. Your biometric data never leaves your device and is never seen by Privy or by us.

04Locked content

Passwords you set on notes and vaults protect that content on your device. If you lose a password, that content cannot be recovered, by anyone, by design. There is no backdoor and no reset we can perform. Please keep your passwords somewhere safe.

05Third parties

Privy uses only Apple's own frameworks, such as iCloud for optional sync, the system tools for document scanning and attachments, and the App Store for the optional Privy Pro purchase (Apple processes the payment; we never see your card details). We do not share your data with anyone, for advertising or anything else, because we never receive it.

06Children's privacy

Privy is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

07Your rights (Quebec, Canada, and beyond)

Depending on where you live, including Quebec's Law 25 and Canada's PIPEDA, or the GDPR in Europe, you may have rights over your personal data. Because Privy keeps your content only on your device and in your own iCloud, and we hold nothing on our side, there is no personal data on our servers to access, correct, or delete. For any question, contact us below.

08Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we will revise the date above and note material changes on this page.
